Ama Dablam

Posted on April 17, 2009 at 9:03 AM

On April 14th Jim Broomhead and I stood on top of Ama Dablam after having climb the classic South West Ridge. We climbed from camp 2 to the summit and back in a single 36 hour push to avoid the dangerous bivy site of camp 3. We had the whole mountain to ourselves and felt very lucky about that since it is one of the most popluar mountains in Nepal. It was a fantastic route with a lot of varied terrain to cover.

We had intented it as a warm up climb for the West Face, but the dry winter has left a bunch of unpleasant rock slabs, so we will move straight to Cholatse to have a look on the North Face and it's possibilities.
